Choosing the right hardware is one of the most impactful decisions you'll make for your podcast's sound quality. The gear listed here has been tested and used by the Lens Group Media production team in real productions. We've kept this list focused and practical — no overwhelming options, just what works.

Best Practices
Surroundings
Record in a small, furnished room away from HVAC noise and outside traffic. Closets and carpeted offices work well.
Headphones
Always monitor with headphones during recording — especially for remote sessions — to catch audio issues in real time.
Levels
Record at -12 to -6 dB peak. Avoid clipping — it's easier to raise quiet audio in post than to fix distortion.
Isolate
Each participant should record on a separate track or device. Combined recordings are much harder to clean up in editing.
Individual Tracks
If using a multi-track recorder or DAW, export individual WAV tracks before sending files for editing.
